PSB Information


Class placement through Threshold is based on age and takes place in August, January and June only. Children may not move up in the middle of the semester. Promotions for Threshold and up Nutcracker 2014 are based on teacher recommendations. Absences & or failure to attend each class in a student’s level may retard promotion. Please discuss attendance issues due to illness or injury promptly with the office.

Required Classes per Level
Beg Ballet
& Threshold 1
1 class per week.
Threshold 2, Level 1, Level 2 2 classes per week
Level 3 3 technique classes + 1 pre-pointe or pointe
Level 4 4 technique classes + 1 pointe

Level 4A 5 technique classes + 2 pointe
Level 5-6 5 technique classes + 2 pointe

We encourage students to take classes in other styles of dance as time allows, in order to enhance and fine tune their technique.

Performing Opportunities

Student Open House

Our Our annual in-studio Open House is held the last week of the fall semester for parents to see what their dancers have been working on all Fall! Parents are invited to observe class during this week.

June Showcase

Our June Showcase dates for 2017 are June 10-11, 2017. Rhythm N 4s thru Level 6 perform in our End of Year June Showcase. Rhythm N 3s perform during the last week of the spring semester. Costume fees are due starting in January. Costume costs range from $30.00 to $80.00, which dancers will take home at the end of the production.

Nutcracker 2017

Petaluma School of Ballet has produced a full length Nutcracker for 30 years, a community favorite!

To participate in the school's annual Nutcracker:
1. Dancers must be 6 years old on or by 12/1/17,
2. Dancers must have taken continuous classes for one year prior to Nutcraker
3. Tuition must be current. 
4. Dancers must have taken required summer training


Levels 4A-6: Dates and Times TBA.
Pre-Ballet-Level 4: Dates and Times TBA.

Mandatory Parent Meeting: TBA

PSB is the official home of North Coast Ballet California, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corp., and a member of Regional Dance America/Pacific.  Dancers are chosen through an annual audition or may be invited to join by the Artistic Directors.


Please check your dancer's mail folder (located by our office window) and the bulletin boards in the main entrance each time you come to the studio. 

We also send out information by email. Please be sure to update your email address with the office.  Our office staff is available to answer questions during business hours.

Rhythm N' 2's, 3's and 4's:  pink short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled ballet slippers, black patent tap shoes for R&3's and 4's.
Pre-Ballet:  Blue short-sleeved leotard, pink tights, pink full-soled ballet shoes and black patent tap shoes
Beginning & Threshold 1:  Lavender short-sleeved leotard, pink tights, and pink, full-soled leather ballet shoes.

Threshold 2: White tank leotard, pink tights, & pink, full-soled leather ballet slippers
Level 1Theatricals #N5501 Mulberry tank leotard, pink tights and pink full-soled leather ballet shoes.
Level 2:  Capezio #202 light blue tank leotard, pink tights & pink, full-soled leather ballet shoes.

Level 4:  Capezio #202 burgundy tank leotard, pink canvas, split-soled ballet shoes, Body Wrappers tights #45 in Theatrical Pink.
Level 5 to 6 Black Leotard; pink canvas split-soled ballet shoes, Body Wrappers tights #45 or #46, in Theatrical Pink.
Boys:  White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white ballet shoes.
Jazz:  White camisole or tank top, black bike shorts or jazz pants, black jazz shoes.
Hip Hop: Comfortable clothes that can be moved in (no jeans) and non-marking tennis shoes. 

Please label all dance clothing and shoes with an indelible laundry marker.
